CanMods began with a simple observation: recessed lights - can lights - are everywhere, but the downlighting can be harsh, even with smart bulbs.

So I solved it, beautifully. It took about a dozen prototypes - and another dozen or so to work out the build - but I installed them up all over my ceilings and when I went looking for new business ideas… (as I age out of deck refinishing) all I had to do was look up for a great idea. My idea. I’m building on it. Beautifully.

The result is CanMods®: architectural lighting made to transform the recessed lights already in your home.

Each design reflects my longtime appreciation for Prairie School architecture — strong geometry, warm materials, beautiful light, and the belief that useful objects should also bring something to a room.
