What is a CanMod?

A CanMod is a handcrafted architectural shade designed to transform the appearance of a compatible recessed ceiling light — without replacing the existing fixture.

Does installation require electrical work?

No. CanMods are designed to install over a compatible existing recessed light without altering its wiring. There’s no need to cut into your ceiling or replace the existing fixture.

Exactly what will I need to put one up?

A stepladder, a measuring tape, a pencil — and about ten minutes.

That’s it. CanMods are designed to install without cutting into your ceiling, rewiring your light, or calling an electrician.

Will it fit my recessed light?

CanMods are designed to work with most standard recessed ceiling-light trim rings.

Because recessed fixtures and trim rings vary, check the compatibility measurements shown on the product page before ordering. Measure the outside diameter of your existing trim ring to make sure it fits comfortably within the CanMod mounting area.

What is the Architect made from?

The Architect is handcrafted from natural cherry hardwood. Each piece is hand sanded, finished and buffed. Because every piece of wood is different, variations in grain and color are part of its character.

What shade options are available?

The standard Architect uses a light-diffusing shade panel held within a slim cherry frame. Selected Signature editions incorporate Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation-licensed decorative art-glass panels.

How long does shipping take?

Current availability and expected shipping time are shown on each product page. In-stock pieces ship first; made-to-order pieces require additional production time.
